Pizza Pays for Child from Orphanage

The Kinsmen Club of Brockville held a “Pizza Party Fundraiser” last night at St Lawrence College in Brockville to raise funds for 3 local charities; Palliative Care, Harvest Sharing and Canadian Aid for Chernobyl.  It was a fun night with local personality Bruce Wylie MC’ing the festivities.

Here is Dave Shaw, Director of Humanitarian Aid, receiving the cheque from the Kinsmen Club.

Pizza was brought in from 8 local pizzerias and everyone got to join in the blind rating process.  It was a lot of fun but most importantly $6,900 was raised and split between the 3 charities.  Our share ($2,300) will be used to pay for one of the children from the Chausy Orphanage to come to Brockville this summer for respite from the radiation as well as experience 5 weeks of life in a loving family environment.  Something that is difficult to learn when raised in an institutional environment.

It will cost approximately $2,200 per child and we are trying to bring 15 deserving children from the orphanage, so if you wish to help please feel free to click the “Donate Now” button at the top right of your screen!

Thanks,
Eric McKenzie
