The Passing of Shirley Green

With great sadness, we say farewell to our dear friend and avid supporter of more than 20 years. Our sincere condolences to the Green family and all whose lives she touched. Her smile and compassion are warmly remembered by the many people that she met during her three trips to Chausy, Belarus. The impact of the Green family’s generosity will be felt for generations. Not only did they undertake large community projects like hospital and orphanage renovations but they also helped many individuals in crisis situations including life-saving surgeries. Shirley was never one to judge an individual’s situation but was always ready to lend a helping hand.

2021 Initiatives

Canadian Aid for Chernobyl has had many successful projects and initiatives during 2020. Life remains very difficult for our friends in Belarus, and we hope that one of the following initiatives for the upcoming year grabs your attention. If it does, we would love your help. Just click on the “Donate Now” button on the right side of the webpage to donate through CanadaHelps, or the PayPal donate button to use PayPal. In either case, you will get a Canadian tax receipt.

 Containers

Due to COVID, CAC is limiting our shipment to one transport container for this spring, providing the funds are raised. The container will consist of food and parcels for a targeted 700 families including seniors on small pensions, and impoverished families and families with disabled children. In addition, we hope to raise enough funds for hygiene products for impoverished families, orphans, abused / neglected children, disabled children and adults. Also, shoe boxes for seniors, gift boxes for orphans, handmade quilts, clothing and footwear.

Covid-19 Brings Tough Times to our Friends in Belarus

Belarus is being hit hard during the pandemic and we continue to help, even from a distance. Our team in Belarus is ready to help us deliver again this Spring, so we need your help to make it happen.

During this giving time of year, we hope to raise enough money to provide 750 families with staple food products for delivery in Spring 2021!
