Let the Sun Shine!

Well the warm sunny weather we are having has brought out everyone. Today we made deliveries in the morning around the Chausy area and in the afternnon we went to Mogilev to deliver to about 12 families. We saw lots of people not only out walking around but also having picnics in the woods. In any stand of trees near a city or town there were small groups of people with a small campfire going having a relaxing day with family and friends.

It also brought out the smiles. This little girl was sitting on a bench in front of her house watching for us to come and drop off their boxes. Although she was freely giving out smiles they got a lot bigger when I showed her a picture of her on the back of the camera!

The sunshine also brought out the laundry! Whether we were in the country or the city there was a lot of clothing drying in the gentle breeze. This was in a small town outside of Chausy, the clothesline was under the protection of a roof but had a nice breeze blowing through it.

Here is some hanging out of windows in high rise apartments in Mogilev.

We were parked outside this building for about 20 minutes and this fellow had a pillow to rest his elbows on. He was there when we arrived and still there when we drove away.

The woman in this picture had taken advantage of this warm weather to paint the floors in her house. When we asked who had done the painting she told us that she had … she is 77 years old! She told us that her husband had passed away only 3 weeks ago and that she was very lonely. She had 2 son’s, one died in Minsk (his children visit occasionally) and the other moved away 18 years ago and she hasn’t heard from him in 10 years. She does not know if he is alive or dead. She would not let us leave until she gave us each a gift of an apple. It was not too bad for her and her husband to get by on their 2 pensions but now with only her own pension, life is much more difficult. She was very happy for the box of food that we had brought and thanked us repeatedly.

I ate the apple on our way back to Chausy … one of the best apples I have ever eaten!
