The Chausy Orphanage – Mar 29/06 Part 1

A little housekeeping first.

I have added a link at the top of this page called Subscribe, if you click on it you can enter your e-mail address and receive an e-mail each time I create a new post. I did this due to the number of requests I had to let people know when a new post was added.

I also decided to break March 29th into two posts as it was a very busy day, also the Chausy Orphanage has been a real focus for Canadian Aid for Chernobyl and consequently we spent a lot of time there.

If you are watching closely you will see pictures of the President of Belarus displayed in most areas of the orphanage.

My first full day in Belarus began with breakfast with Sasha (my Belarussian Dad – who is considerably younger than me). We had some sort of pancakes served with sour-cream and jam for dipping. We also had tea pronounced chai in Russian. Tea was served (or at least offered) every time we sat in the kitchen, whether for a meal or just to visit. This held true in every home that I entered.

Enjoy the video.

PS: Next post will cover the Chausy Hospital and the Orphanage for girls in Mogilev.
