First let me say that food box donations are going well. We have had a great response so far and have now had 203 boxes donated out of the 600 we are hoping for, double where we were a week ago! Thank you to all of you who have helped out.
When we talk about “containers” we are referring to the 40 foot shipping, or sea containers that are used to ship all of the aid to Belarus. They are brought to our Brockville warehouse empty and then delivered to the Port of Montreal (trucking donated by Harland Veinotte transport) where they board a ship that takes them to Riga, Latvia. At this point they are again hauled by truck across Europe to Belarus, where we meet them in Chausy and unload them into our warehouse (school gymnasium) there.
Due to the amazing generosity of this community, we have a lot of aid to send and we will need to ship 3 full containers this year to get everything to Belarus. Here is what we have so far: Continue reading →

Happy New Year everyone! We are pleased and excited to present to you our initiatives for 2015. You will notice many familiar programs as we continue to support and expand our efforts within the country of Belarus and the Chausy region specifically. We are particularly excited to introduce our newest initiative which is a “Rescue Home for Children”. There are many children still living in difficult situations but a sponsorship to the Chausy Orphanage is not an option. We hope that this project will offer a solution. Read on to learn more.

Rescue Home for Children
Many children continue to live in dangerous family or foster family situations, but living in an institutional orphanage environment is not an option.
CAC, in partnership with the Chausy Administration, is in the preliminary stages of establishing a rescue home in the Town of Chausy. The concept is to purchase a property and hire a long-term house Mom who would nurture and care for several children of various ages. The children would have the advantage of living in a loving family environment while attending regular public school and would have access to extra curricular activities.
