An Extraordinary Day of Giving!

We are so lucky to live in such a great community!  When someone needs a hand the volunteers show up and get the job done.  Today was a double header!  First the Brockville and Area Chernobyl Quilters showed up to deliver the goods … and deliver they did!  Here is Mary Bernard and some of the quilters along with the 215 hand-made quilts that they presented for delivery this year.

This brings the 9 year total to 1,446 quilts! These beautiful

quilts will be delivered this spring to orphans, Mothers and their children staying at the Crisis Centre in Chausy, impoverished kids and disabled children. An amazing gift that will be cherished forever.

This evening a large group of volunteers, including Rotarians from 3 local clubs (Brockville, 1000 Islands and Prescott) as well as CAC members, arrived at the warehouse and in a couple of hours filled 600 food boxes with important staple food. Here is the gang as they get underway.

These boxes, which contain flour, sugar, peanut butter, coffee, tea, pasta and canned meats will be personally delivered by our Canadian delegation in early April. Although we have packed 600 boxes, we still have a long way to go complete the fund raising for this initiative. If you would like to donate a box that will be badly needed by an impoverished senior or young family living in a region still impacted by the Chernobyl disaster, please click on the “Donate Now” button on the right or drop off your payment to Alan Browns on King Street in Brockville. All it costs is $50 per box and we will see it safely delivered to someone in need!

Things are starting to gear up to full speed as we prepare the shipment of our containers. Stay tuned, there is more to come!
