A Small Gesture with Life Changing Results

At our recent Gala/Auction, Janet Wynands shared the story of the little girl that they began hosting 20 years ago.  It is a beautiful example of how a small gesture by a caring family in Canada can have long term, life changing results for that child.  We wanted to share this story with you, so here it is, in Janet’s own words, following this picture of the Wynands family when they first hosted Valya 20 years ago.  From left to right, front row; Jennifer, John, Valya and Karen, back row; Janet, Eric and Ed.

2013 Gala and Auction a Huge Success!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again … we live in a fantastic community!  Once again the people of the Brockville area stepped up to help those in need.  Our charity auction last night took in a record $80,000!  The generosity was absolutely amazing.  From African Safari’s to Autographed NHL Hockey Jersey’s and even several opportunities for straight donations, the crowd came through again and again.

Our guests were greeted by our children in the “Respite from Radiation” program and our interpreters with the traditional Belarusian offering of bread and salt.  Some were dressed in traditional costume as well.


It was an evening of dining, entertainment, heartfelt stories, CAC successes, recognition, gratitude and generosity.  Throughout the evening Continue reading
