There are more than 180 Orphanages located throughout the Republic of Belarus, housing on average 125 children per institution. Although only 30% of these children are actual orphans, the majority have been abandoned or removed from their families due to neglect or abuse. Many of these children suffer from a lack of social manners necessary to interact with others successfully, low self-esteem and self-confidence. Due to economic turmoil, the government alone cannot provide adequate care for these children and humanitarian assistance is urgently needed and most appreciated. Desperate shortages exist in items to meet the most basic needs such as hygiene products, hot water and school supplies.
Through the generosity of our supporters, CAC annually collects, ships and personally distributes items such as clothing and footwear, toiletries, medicines, educational learning tools, music equipment, sports equipment and computers.
