It is said that “a child fills a place in your heart that you never knew was empty”. Well today was a day to burst the hearts of our Canadian delegation! The Rotary Clubs “Day of the Angel” party was held today to celebrate the birthdays of the children in Irina Denisyenko’s “Organization of Families with Invalid Children” who have a birthday in this half of the year. This is a wonderful event that the Canadians really look forward to … almost as much as the children we are celebrating. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and the children were all smiles. This was our biggest party yet with almost 100 guests in attendance.

This has been a very exciting couple of days for the kids at the Chausy Orphanage. Yesterday Chantal Seguin took six of the hockey players from the orphanage all the way to Minsk. Their first stop was at a McDonalds, a first for 5 of the 6 boys and they considered it a “thrill of a lifetime”! Quite a few different things happening today, but there was a lot of activity at the Chausy Orphanage. First thing this morning Peggy stopped in to see the infirmary. In the past we have done a lot of work to renovate and equip these rooms and a nurse is on duty 24 hours a day. The Campbells of Ridgetown, Ontario provide vitamins for the children as well as other necessities. There is a main examination room as well as two isolation rooms. Of course for anything serious the children are taken to the Chausy Hospital.
