Shawn Dawson’s Dream Mountains Foundation is helping to make a Canadian Aid for Chernobyl dream come true! One of our 2011 initiatives is to start a Shelter for Abused Women and Children in Chausy, Belarus … the first crisis centre of it’s kind in the region. When Shawn, a Brockville native and Ottawa businessman, learned of the projects carried out by our organization he quickly added CAC to his list of charities to benefit from his “7 Summits for 7 Charities” fund raiser. Shawn’s team of climbers will be heading to the top of the highest peak in Africa … Kilimanjaro! Each of the climbers is expected to raise $5,000 for their charity and we have 4 climbers representing Canadian Aid for Chernobyl:
Click on their names to go to their own personal donation page to read about each of them and/or to make a donation in support of them and our initiative the “Dream Mountains Crisis Centre” in Chausy.
In order to kick off this event, Shawn is holding a screening of the movie “Everest” at the Brockville Arts Centre on Wednesday December 29th at 7:30 PM (click on the image for full size). After the movie our very own Anastasia Pestava will be speaking to the audience about her experiences growing up at the Chausy Orphanage and her impressions of the work that CAC has done there based on her return trip this past September. Shawn, Bob, Tim and Stuart will also be available for questions and answers as well as a meet & greet.
Here is an excellent opportunity to watch an exciting movie and support Anastasia and the climbers for a great cause!
Hope to see you there.
