On My Way

Well I am finally on my way for the Fall  trip to Belarus!  This is my first time going in the Fall as all of my previous trips have been to help with the distribution of aid delivered in the Spring container shipment.  This will be a different type of trip, where the primary goals have historically been to follow up on initiatives started in the spring and establish new ones for next spring.  However we have a lot going on this fall and extra help was needed in order to complete everything.  We have Firefighters completing training, an orphanage internet program and a hockey school to name a few.

Here are a few pictures from the spring trip:

First, it will be great to see my host family again.  They are great people and I love staying with them.  We may not speak the same language, but we sure have fun when I am there.

Something I don’t miss is the mud in the spring.  I am hoping to see a dryer, greener version of the Chausy region.

It will be great to see the kids from the Chausy Orphanage!  They are such great kids who have really flourished under the many programs we have established here.

Finally, here is a picture of a billboard that I snapped in Minsk.  It says “I <3 (heart) Belarus”.  Maybe I will see some real flowers this trip.

Hopefully I will be posting my first “in country” blog on Tuesday night so stay tuned!
