Jann and her family have been involved in Chernobyl focused charities since 1995 when they first hosted a child from the contaminated zone. Since then she has been a host parent to 4 different children from Belarus, been President of another Chernobyl charity before becoming one of the founding families of Canadian Aid for Chernobyl, and has served on that board of directors as communications director and fundraising chair. In 1997, Jann was a delegate to the United Nations conference on Chernobyl and other Technological disasters in Moscow. She has travelled to Belarus four times assisting in the delivery of humanitarian aid to the contaminated zone.
Other volunteer work has included: chair of Commonwealth Public School Parent Council, parent representative to the County School Association and various Upper Canada District School Board committees, member of the Public Liaison Committee for the new St. Lawrence Corrections and Treatment Centre. Currently Jann is also a volunteer at Sherwood Park Manor.
A graduate of McMaster University with a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science, Jann and her husband Dan have three children.
