The Board of Directors of Canadian Aid for Chernobyl are so proud of Rhona Dixon for being awarded the 2014 YMCA Peace Medallion for her wonderful work in the community which includes her volunteering with Canadian Aid for Chernobyl. Here a few of the members of the board pose with Rhona after receiving her award this morning at the YMCA. From the left; Jon Schuler, Dave Shaw, Rhona Dixon, Murray Ferguson, Eric McKenzie and Kate Anderson.
Rhona is one of the “unsung heroes” of CAC, working many hours sorting and packing clothing for shipment in the spring. She is also the Chair of our Respite from Radiation program as well as a member of the Executive Committee. Rhona has been involved with CAC since 1997 and on the Board of Directors since 1998, has hosted children most of the years in between and made many trips to Belarus to help with the delivery of aid and to organize our paperwork and delivery efforts.
Here Rhona is presented with the award by members of the YMCA.
Rhona works for the Brockville and Area Community Living Association and has volunteered for many organizations in the Brockville area. Thank you Rhona, you help make our community a better place!
