Diamond Jubilee Medal for Dave Shaw

Our very own Dave Shaw was awarded the “Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal” at a ceremony held last night at the Royal Brock Hotel in Brockville.  The award serves to honour significant contributions and achievements by Canadians, and in Dave’s case, an achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada.

The members and Board of Canadian Aid for Chernobyl are very proud of Dave for being recognized with this honour.  It is his personal vision, care, passion and commitment that drives our humanitarian aid program and this award stands as confirmation that his community agrees with that direction.  Dave has previously received other honours for this work including being the First Canadian awarded the “Order of Belarus” by the President of the Republic of Belarus.

Here is a picture of Dave receiving his award from Senator Bob Runciman, MPP Steve Clark and MP Gord Brown.

and a picture with his proud family; daughter Riley, mother Denise and his wife Susan.

Congratulations Dave, well deserved!

Congratulation Dave! Everything that was said about you, I see and think thats very true about Dave! And Dave is also right re: everyone who is evolved with him. You all deserve to be recognized and I am proud to say, that Canadians do have a big heart and many give their time, effort, love and money to most part strangers in need, at first. I am so happy that you have chosen Belarus for this!!! And will never forget. Thank you!

I proudly accepted the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal on behalf of all the devoted individuals, organizations and businesses that
have supported our charity. It takes enormous dedication, commitment of time and compassion from many wonderful and caring people…
from hand knitted mitts, scarves and quilts…to shoeboxes for seniors…. to foodboxes…to monetary contributions….! Thank you, each
and every one of you…. our supporters, our members, our Board of Directors and Officers past and present, our host families both here and abroad, and our interpreters, drivers and our partners that work in such harmony…. together we are making a wonderful difference!

Congratulations Dave. So very well-deserved. You have done so much to change the lives of people in Chaussy and surrounding area. I am proud to say that I live in Brockville — such a charitable community, largely due to you and your organization.
