Natasha’s Surgery a Success!

Thanks to your overwhelming support, Natasha has had her surgery and is currently recovering in Moscow.  Between our online campaign and direct donations we surpassed our goal and have a small reserve fund to help cover future treatment and follow-up appointments.  Here is little Natasha just before heading into surgery.

According to the doctors the surgery was a success. The tumour was completely removed and they expect a complete recovery with no complications.  Natasha will have follow-up tests in 3 months to confirm she is progressing as expected.  Here is a picture that Natasha sent via Facebook before the surgery, blowing a kiss of thanks to all of the Canadians for helping to save her life.

Here is a message from Natasha’s Mom, Olga:

Words are powerless to express my gratitude. Your generosity has been a gift of life for Natasha. Your kindness helped us through this most difficult time. Frankly speaking I don’t know what we would’ve done without you.  You saved our Natasha and gave her a chance to be healthy and happy again.  We will always be grateful for all that you have done to help our family. Our Natasha was lucky to find such people in the Brockville community.  The only way we can thank you is to keep you informed of the outcome—and I promise to do that. I will always treasure your gift for my child and my family.   With best regards Olga

This has been such an emotional experience, not only for this family, but for all of us at Canadian Aid for Chernobyl and clearly this was an emotional experience for all of you who stepped forward and helped to save this little girl’s life.  Once again, we are astonished by the kindness and generosity shown by the people of our community.

Thank you!

Glad to be a part of Natasha’s healing. Usually when we support a cause we never see the outcome. Nice to be able to see the result and to help this young person.

So relieved & so happy for Natasha and her family! Love, Erin, Dave, Nate and “CRAZY JOSH” like Natasha called Josh at theatre camp last summer Xo

Having gone through brain surgery 12 years ago, I cannot imagine not having the money for the surgery.

I am thrilled to see the results and will be anxious to hear of Natasha’s progress.

    Love,
    Connie Lou
